Lizzy Wilson and Amber Cully from Financially Included, share information about the National Launch of The Purple Phone (Economic Abuse Helpline) as well as their Responding to Economic Abuse Training and the Economic Abuse Response Network. Financially Included are currently engaging with the Edinburgh Advice Partnership to explore joint working and access to the training and network for advice providers in Edinburgh and we will share any further updates on this in the next few months.

Financially Included Project Overview
The Purple Phone
The Purple Phone - Scotland's Economic Abuse Helpline - launched as a pilot for Glasgow in September 2025. Now, The Purple Phone has been opened to women across Scotland and expanded to include a webchat function on our website.
From Shetland to Selkirk, women can contact The Purple Phone to seek advice, support and guidance relating to economic abuse. Our specialist money advisors will provide confidential advice and guidance, support and validation, as well as signposting to relevant services.
In Glasgow and East Renfrewshire, direct referrals into specialist services can be made and we’re working with further local authorities to expand this scope.
The Purple Phone can be reached on 0343 841 0132 or via webchat at www.financiallyincluded.co.uk and is open Monday 16:00-19:00, Wednesday 10:00-13:00, Thursday 13:00-16:00 and Friday 10:00-13:00. Translators are available on request.
Responding to Economic Abuse Training
Our co-produced training develops understanding of economic abuse and coercive control, promotes early intervention and encourages staff to routinely ask and provide robust support to recovery for victim-survivors. The purpose of this training is not to become experts on supporting people to escape domestic abuse but to develop a greater understanding and to become equipped with the correct resources to respond effectively.
Training is split into two or three sessions, each with a different knowledge focus:
1. Coercive control: developing a shared understanding
2. Economic Abuse: the specifics and reality
3. (for advisors only) Practice implications: developing skills and confidence.
Each training participant leaves with an Economic Abuse Toolkit and membership to the Economic Abuse Response Network.
Economic Abuse Response Network
Members of the Economic Abuse Response Network are part of a growing movement to tackle economic abuse across the country, with access to second-tier advice, lunch & learn sessions, refresher training, practitioner forums, mailing list and sector-specific training from Financially Included. Membership is granted upon completion of Financially Included’s Responding to Economic Abuse training.
Our aim is to create a national cross-sector network with a drive to improve the economic safety of women and their ability to thrive. We want to imbed safe and informed responses to economic abuse across the country so that all women, no matter where they are, are able to access advice and support.
