Seminar: Beyond UC migration - current challenges and future changes
Date: Thursday 27 November
Time: 1-4pm
Location: Glasgow
We’re in the final stages of the migration to universal credit. There are many complex issues that can arise for clients as they get their first UC awards, sometimes involving longstanding errors in legacy benefits that come to light during the migration process.
The challenges don’t end there. There are surprising impacts after clients start getting UC, including with council tax reduction, and issues with the transitional element as time passes and situations change. And as soon as the migration to UC is complete in March 2026, the next wave of change begins. From next year, welfare reform in the UK begins to impact on how much people get, with protection for some. In Scotland, a new two child limit payment starts, with advisers playing a key role in explaining options for families.
This CPAG in Scotland seminar in Glasgow is a chance to share with other advisers in Scotland the challenges you’re seeing, stay up to date with the latest developments and consider tactics to best support clients through this period of change and will be led by CPAG in Scotland welfare rights experts.
The in-person seminar will be held from 1pm – 4pm in the Executive Suite, University of Strathclyde, Technology and Innovation Centre, 99 George Street, Glasgow G1 1RD
