We are pleased to share the Edinburgh Advice Network Report, compiled following valuable insights from our recent engagement with network members. Your responses have played a key role in shaping this report, and we want to take a moment to thank you for your active participation, ongoing support, and involvement in the network. The data collected has highlighted the significant positive impact of the events, training, and connections fostered within the network.

Key Impact in 2024/25:
208+ practitioners trained through EAN events (96% satisfaction rate)
51% of members built new partnerships, strengthening referral pathways for Edinburgh residents
"EAN has already made a difference to our clients." – Network Member
Why This Matters
Every year, millions in financial support meant for Edinburgh residents go unclaimed. In 2019, the Edinburgh Poverty Commission estimated that £70 - £80 million in benefits were left unclaimed annually. By 2023, this figure was projected to exceed £100 million.
Yet, as we know, accessing welfare and financial advice remains a challenge. Services are often fragmented, funding is inconsistent, and navigating the complex welfare system alone can be overwhelming.
EAN was created to help address these gaps, and your collective input has been key to our shared success. The network has played an active role in:
Strengthening Edinburgh’s advice sector through shared resources, training, and advocacy
Improving coordination across services to ensure support reaches the people who need it most
Building a collective voice for sustainable funding and policy improvements that benefit both frontline services and the residents they support
Next Steps and Recommendations
Based on the insights from this report, we’ve outlined a series of recommendations to build on our successes and ensure the network’s future impact and sustainability should funding be secured.
These include:
Expanding thematic event sessions to tackle more complex and emerging issues
Creating additional structured networking opportunities to foster peer learning and collaboration
Securing long-term funding for the continued role of the Network Coordinator to ensure stability and growth
Advocate for a sustainable funding model positioning the network as a key consultative body in future commissioning efforts
By responding to these recommendations, we can further strengthen our collective impact, ensuring high-quality, accessible advice services for Edinburgh’s residents and improving social and financial outcomes for all.
Thank you once again for your continued dedication and collaboration. Together, we are making a meaningful difference for the people who need it most.
