Graham Ross, Prevention and Partnership Housing Officer from City of Edinburgh Council, provides an update on the work they are doing relating to the New Housing Bill and a training offer for Advice Providers.

'The Prevention and Partnership Officers within the Team want to increase awareness of the upcoming Housing Bill and its new legal implications for various internal council teams and external organisations. We also want to help organisations start discussions on what they think prevention of homelessness means and what they can do to help their service users avoid homelessness.
Â
We have developed training on three key topics:
Homeless Prevention and Housing Options Teams Overview (45mins to 1 hr)
New Housing Bill with a focus on new Ask and Act duties (45mins to 1 hr)
How do you prevent homelessness throughout a tenancy (1hr to 1hr 30 mins depending on numbers)

If you are interested in setting up a training session in person or over MS teams or want to learn more, please contact homelessness.preventandpartnership@edinburgh.gov.uk'
