Laura van der Hoeven, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Food Projects invites Edinburgh Advice Partnership and Network members to attend a hustings event they are hosting on 7th April.

Edinburgh Food Project Hustings Event
Date: 7th April, 7-8.30pm
Location: Scottish Poetry Library, Edinburgh EH8 8DT
Registration: Eventbrite
I am writing on behalf of Edinburgh Food Project to invite you to a hustings event ahead of the coming Scottish parliament election.
Edinburgh Food Project is the largest provider of emergency food in Edinburgh, distributing over 18,000 food parcels last year. The event will bring together candidates to discuss the drivers of foodbank use and poverty in Edinburgh.
Date: Tuesday 7 April
Time: 19.00 – 20.30
Location: Scottish Poetry Library, 5 Crichton's Cl, Edinburgh EH8 8DT
This event will be chaired by Ian Swanson, editor of the Edinburgh Evening News and will give the opportunity to hear directly from candidates about their policy solutions and engage in constructive discussion. A central focus of the evening will be food insecurity in Edinburgh. Many households are facing rising living costs and a housing emergency all of which are significantly increasing reliance on foodbanks. We will ask candidates how they plan to tackle food insecurity and ensure the voices of people experiencing poverty are listened to.
The hustings will include:
Short opening statements from each candidate
A moderated discussion based on priorities of the Edinburgh Food Project lived experience panel
A selection of submitted questions from the audience.
We hope this event will help foster an open and informed conversation ahead of the election and encourage meaningful engagement between candidates and the communities they seek to represent.
Please confirm your attendance by registering via the Eventbrite link here.
We look forward to welcoming you.
