Heat With Rent Withdrawal

Julia Dunkerley, Changeworks, providers an update on the withdrawal of the Heat With Rent scheme that affects some City of Edinburgh Council tenants.

'The City of Edinburgh Council are working with Changeworks Affordable Warmth Services to support tenants affected by the closure of the Heat of Rent Scheme. 

These changes have been driven by two factors. Scottish Power can no longer support the HWR system due to changes in the energy market. The Radio Teleswitch (RTS) signal that controls the timer for this tariff is due to be switched off in June 2025. 

There are currently c700 tenants from 13 different sites who will be impacted and advised to move their heating meter into their own name and request a Smart Meter to be installed to resolve any issues that will arise from the RTS shutdown.
