Migration Policy Scotland (MPS) share details of their Showcase Event which will be held in Edinburgh on Wednesday 3rd September. It includes information on the development of pathfinder initiatives which Rebecca Kay from MPS discussed with Edinburgh Advice Network members during the EAN Event in March on Immigration and Supporting Migrants, as well as learning from a number of expert speakers and funders.

We are delighted to invite you to our Showcase Event: Tackling Financial Disadvantage in Migrant Households. Migration Policy Scotland, partners and colleagues will share the learning and outcomes emerging from two years of work identifying the barriers and challenges that underpin poverty and financial disadvantage in migrant households. The showcase includes Pathfinder Initiatives emerging from collaboration with frontline service and support organisations in MPS’ innovative policy laboratory
Join us to hear about and reflect further on policy recommendations and practical interventions to tackle barriers and improve access to routes out of poverty and financial disadvantage.
During the day we will hear from expert speakers and funders including:

They will reflect on how our findings and policy laboratory innovations fit into the broader challenge of tackling poverty and securing an equitable and inclusive Scotland.
MPS and our partner organisations will present five collaboratively developed Pathfinder initiatives aimed at making a concrete difference to migrant households facing financial challenges across Scotland:
Guidance for Financial Health Checks Appropriate to Migrant Needs
Guides for Accessible Intercultural Communication
Service Maps Suited to Migrants Needs
Scoping for Training led by Migrant-focused Organisations
Scoping Referral Systems to support Warm Handovers
