One Parent Families Scotland: Childcare Connector and New Single Parent Employability Service

Jenifier Hamilton, Regional Co-ordinator for One Parent Family Support Service shares information about a new employability service for single parents and highlights how their Childcare Connector service can help single parents. She also shares information about a job opportunity with their team!
'We are delighted to share with sector colleagues that our NEW employability service is now taking referrals. This service offers tailored employability support to single parents who are looking to start or progress on their journey into work, training or education.
Alongside our employability service, our established Childcare Connector service has also expanded, giving us more capacity to support single parents to understand, navigate and access childcare to help them into or progress in work, training or education.
Our Employability Support Workers are able to support single parents through their employability journey from start to finish, supporting along the way to remove childcare barriers, build skills and grow confidence. Single parents accessing this service will also be offered a full financial health check and dedicated support to access and apply for any missed entitlement.
Our Childcare Connectors can support with initial or upfront payments to childcare providers, along with support to understand how to claim childcare costs back through UC and support along the way to navigate the childcare landscape in Edinburgh. We will also be running our established ‘Six Week Empowerment to Employment Programme’ throughout the year, more information on this will follow later in the year.
Our service posters for both Employability and Childcare Connector as well as our referral form are attached below. We are open for referrals.
