Responding to Economic Abuse: A National Debt and Money Advice Conference
Date: Thursday 18 June, 09:00 - 16:30
Location: Crowne Plaza, Glasgow
Registration: Via Eventbrite, tickets £27.80
This national conference brings together debt advisers, support workers, policy makers, and sector leaders from across Scotland.
Delivered by Money Advice Scotland and Financially Included, this event places a strong focus on the growing impact of economic abuse and coercive control. Advice and support workers are uniquely positioned, often identifying coerced debt, financial manipulation, and restricted access to money. This conference will strengthen understanding and build confidence in how services recognise and respond to these complex experiences.
Through lived experience, expert insight, and practical learning, the programme will explore how economic abuse intersects with problem debt, poverty and financial exclusion. It will highlight trauma-informed approaches, partnership working and the role of policy in improving protection and outcomes.
This is an opportunity to connect, share practice and strengthen Scotland’s response supporting a free debt advice sector that delivers dignity, respect, and meaningful change.
