Summary Update on Council Tax

Jo Baldock, Advice Network Coordinator, provides an update on key areas of work currently ongoing in Edinburgh relating to Council Tax to enable better communication and involvement of the full Edinburgh Advice Network. This follows discussion and issues raised at the Edinburgh Advice Network Event in September 2024.

The summary provides an overview of a Council Tax Working Group which has been meeting regularly and consists of representatives from the advice sector and City of Edinburgh Council. It includes latest updates including the Citizens Advice Scotland briefing paper on Write Off's in Council Tax; work on council tax communications and an adviser only email contact for Walker Love. It also gives an overview of protections the City of Edinburgh Council Council Team currently have in place to support debtors.
