Overview
Hosted by Joined Up for Business, this webinar offers employers an opportunity to learn about the benefits of employing prison leavers.
You’ll hear directly from support organisations that work with individuals transitioning back into the workforce, as well as the resources and guidance they offer to both job seekers and employers.
You will also hear about the practical steps required to employ prison leavers, and the benefits that this process can provide your organisation.
Whether you're looking to diversify your talent pool or are simply curious about the process, this session will provide valuable insights and real-world examples of successful employment.
During the session we will hear from the following organisations:
Access to Industry works across Scotland with unemployed people who face barriers to employment, including people with a history of offending behaviour, experience of the justice system because of risk-taking behaviours, or serving a community or custodial sentence.
HMP Programmes Team will be in attendance to discuss rehabilitation and support available whilst in custody.
Lucy Faithfull Foundation specialise in providing training, assessments, interventions, and case consultancy in relation to child sexual abuse and harmful sexual behaviour.
Crisis Skylight Edinburgh supports people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness, including recent prison leavers.
Following this, we will have a panel session with the above organisations as well as Department For Work and Pensions and Only A Pavement Away. There will be an opportunity for Q&A and contact details can be provided for any follow up questions.
Finally, we will also be joined by a local employer with his own experience in the justice system, who will share on the value of giving people a 'second chance'.
