Slides and Summary from EAN Event: Technology and AI in Advice now available

Materials from the Edinburgh Advice Network Event: Technology and AI in Advice on 2nd October 2025 have now been published in the Resources section of the Edinburgh Advice Network website. It includes slides for all the presentations and summary notes for the Panel Questions and Discussion.


It includes the following:


  • Scottish AI Alliance: Slides for the presentation by Gordon Johnstone on Trustworthy, Ethical and Inclusive AI. Gordon explained common misconceptions and realities relating to AI, outlining the opportunities whilst also recognising the risks of the technology.


    He gave advice and recommendations for organisations looking to utilise AI and explained the range of resources that are freely available via the Scottish AI Alliance Website. These include:


o   The Datalab which includes a funding finder tool 

o   A suite of guidance, resources and support at The Playbook

o   Free Training course – Living with AI


  • Introducing Wyser ASSIST: Slides for the presentation by George McFerran, Wyser, where he gives an overview of this AI application designed for advice services. He explains how it transcribes calls and meetings and creates case notes that are customised to your own processes and workflows. Wyser offers a free trial to test the performance and accuracy.   • East Lothian Housing Association: Martin Pollhammer, CEO, gives insights from their own technological transition which most recently has included the use of WyserASSIST by all their customer facing roles.


  • EAN: Edinburgh Advice Network Update Slides, giving an overview of planned events, and other activities.


  • Panel Questions and Discussion: Summary notes from the Panel Questions and Discussion. It includes some answers to technical questions about Wyser ASSIST that were raised, along with insights relating to to funding, affordable and Value of using AI and concerns in relation to client trust and data security. It touches on Managing Organisational Change and also discussion around the potential changing role and practice of an Advisor.
